Expert guitarists advise that you change acoustic guitar strings once a month, and if you play often, change them every two weeks. All you need to string your guitar is a pack of strings, a string winder, a string cutter, and a flat surface.

The first step is to loosen the strings on the guitar with the string winder. Work from the high E string to the low E string. Don’t stop until all of the strings are limp and lying on the frets.

Next, cut the guitar strings just above the soundboard to avoid scratching your guitar. Remove the strings by using the string winder notch to remove the bridge pins holding the strings in place.

Next, assemble the new strings. The markings on the string package will help you identify the correct strings. Hold the ball-end of the low E string against the bridge pin to make a bend in the string. This will enable the ball-end to rest on the bridge plate. Repeat the process for all the other strings, then thread and wind the rest of the strings onto the tuning pegs.
